Steering Geometry Simulation
The steering geometry simulation works with front steer or rear steer
setups.
The steering rack can be dragged side to side with the mouse, or it can be moved with
the scroll bar.
Numerous calculations are made instantaneously while you move the steering rack:
- Rack travel
- Tire angles
- Toe distance and angle
- Tie rod effective length
- Steering arm effective length
- Tie rod angles
- Steering arm angles
- Tie rod-to-steering arm angle
- Ackerman steering position and relation
- Turning circle diameter ("turning radius")

Front steer

Rear steer

The static arms option displays the positions of the tie rods and steering
arms with zero steer.

The Static tires option displays the position of the tires with zero steer.

The Trails option displays the paths of the tie rod / steering arm
intersection point.

The Ackerman option shows imaginary lines to help you envision Ackerman
steering geometry.

Zooming out makes the diagram smaller and allows you to see the Ackerman
steering
imaginary line intersection points compared with the position of the rear
axle.
